For the third year, Sandy Hill Elementary welcomed the school year with its annual Fête de la rentrée, bringing together more than 400 students to celebrate French language, culture and community.

Mme Rodriguez once again took the lead in organizing the event, with French Immersion Grade 5 students playing an important role as volunteers. Students helped lead activities and welcome their peers throughout the celebration.

The Bear Bus is officially on the move! 

This past weekend, families and community members joined Abbotsford School District’s Early Learning Team at the Sweeney Early Years Centre for the grand opening of the Bear Bus, a new mobile early learning program bringing play, literacy, culture, wellness and connection directly to children and families across Abbotsford. 

Students at Auguston Traditional Elementary welcomed Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley riders with signs, cheers and a special contribution as the annual cycling tour made its way through Abbotsford.

Two long-serving members of the Abbotsford Board of Education were recognized with a special honour this week for their years of service and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Board Chair Stan Petersen, who has served as a trustee for 15 years, and Vice Chair Shirley Wilson, who has served for 21 years, were blanketed by members of the Abbotsford School District’s Indigenous Education Council (IEC).

Every season, coaches across the Abbotsford School District give their time, knowledge and encouragement to help students grow. Many volunteer their time before school, after school, on evenings and weekends.
